Quietly enduring the small waves.

It’s been a while, 2018 was ended and unfortunately nothing has changed… nothing also got worse 🙂

The past year was still part of my healing era. I started to organize things again but with a lower expectation this time. I don’t want get my hopes too high that even myself will be having a hard time time to cope with it. Hinay hinay nga ika ng iba. I…

When expectations became a MONSTER…

When expectations became a MONSTER…

There is joy of meeting the expectations of the person you love, but the expectation kept growing and it became a monster, the joy transformed into the fear of letting that person down.

I was re-reading all my post in this blog then nakita ko na may mga post na nasa drafts pa. This was me back in 2013. Nothing has changed. It was the same me with the same dilemma.

Nanunuod ako ng Japanese drama…

Thoughts 11:42

I was tired yesterday…

I’m still tired today…

And I’m afraid, I think, I will be also tired tomorrow…

I am being hard to myself lately. I keep pushing myself to the edge that I don’t even know what’s it is for me if I pass through it. I can’t move… I got stuck… Yung tipong gusto mo ng umalis sa kinalalagyan mo pero di pwede… you have your dependents.

Why life has been so hard on me? I keep on…

Bored & Empty

image
I’m so bored! Bored with this life… Parang it feels so empty: no light, no direction. I know I’ve been so annoying writing all my disapointments and rants here but… I mean… I can’t complain or utter my selfishness in the actual world. God knows how much I’m trying to fix things as what it used to be pero parang too late na or kung di naman too late, I don’t really have the means to change it, fix…

Looking back to 2017

image
Tough times, don’t last; tough people do. 2017 is my recovery year. Recovery from all the pains, hardships and complications that life has been given me these past years. It is not easy to stand up after a massive fall. Everything became a reset. I need to start from the very beginning – no direction, zero opportunity, financial unstable and uncertain future. Hindi maganda ang simula ng 2017.…

I don’t usually watch movies alone, but the trailer, reviews and social media sneezers got me to watch it so badly even if I don’t have any companion.

Everything was “giri-giri” (“on the edge” in Japanese). Galing ako sa pakikipaglibing. I wanted to feel a lighter after some sobbing moment that I witness kaya I decided to watch a movie after.

I sat down in the middle of dark room then nagsimula na magkwento ang character na si Lea.

The establishing shots were on point. Let’s also appreciate the brilliant Mise-en-scène in the film. Sa mga nakanood, did you remember the scene when Tonyo is talking on the phone about her ex, there is a “There is Hope” sign on the wall. That Sapporo beer that became Tonyo’s buddy and the reason why he got in the town of Sapporo and a lot more. Kahit small detail may kwento, may sinasabi 🙂

Of course, Empoy, akala ko OA lang yung mga nabasa ko na ang gwapo-gwapo niya raw sa “Kita Kita”, pero YES, he definitely turn into a hearthrob and the superb camera shots on him, I think, is one of the reason why he became so pogi in this movie.

Let’s go back to the story. I will not mention the plot because all the reviews I encountered has it na. The first part of the film was Lea’s storytelling. And how she and his “Kabayan” Tonyo got close to each other. Lea is a typical girl. Nasaktan lang siya and that’s it. And then she met another guy that made her feel special again. For a plot twist na lang siguro yung pagkabulag niya. Everthing about her was so simple that it’s so easy for the crowd to love her.

Tonyo, Empoy’s character on the other hand, owned the second part of the film. Feeling ko nga ¼ of the film lang yung sakop ng storytelling ni Tonyo, but this ¼ of the film gave the true “feels”. Tonyo is like an imaginary character from a romance novel, except for having a super handsome face. They way Tonyo looked at Lea is so precious. His humour and lovable personality is well-portrayed by Empoy.

Empoy and Alessandra proved it in this movie. They owned the film. Their acting and screen presence were so convincing to the point that you see yourself gigling to their small talks and “labingans”. They have the perfect chemistry and it just so happen that the movie has a good script that allows them to show their talent. Waaahhh! I’m so happy for them especially kay Empoy. Tonyo became the standard of the new POGI 🙂

(Spoiler) My favorite scene is the part where Lea and Tonyo went to Otaru Music Box Museum. Tonyo handed a music box to Lea. Sabi ni Tonyo (not the exact words), may mga bagay daw na mas gumaganda kapag binibigyan ng effort (he ask kasi if mahilig si Lea sa music box and Lea answered that she has a playlist on her itunes) . And then, both of them listen to the mechanical music box.

Lastly, the beauty of Sapporo, Japan added to the charm of the movie. I love Japanese culture. I love films and I’m a frustrated filmmaker/screenplay writer, kaya naman natutuwa ako kapag may mga ganitong klaseng peikula.

I don’t know how will I end this review? Review nga ba or I just wanted to released the unnamed emotion in my chest after watching this film. Overall, I really enjoyed the movie, hindi lang enjoy yung naramdaman ko, I think I fell in love once more in a Filipino movie and I’m hoping that more of this kind of movie will be offer to the Filipino audience in the future.

Pink and Gray: A colorful friendship with a shadow of enviousness

OK! Been a while for so long. 🙂 I do watched some series and movies while I’m away so I’ll be doing a review from now on. I recently watched a Japanese movie titled “Pink and Gray”. Yeah! I know. It so obvious that I’m a big fan of Japanese entertainment – weird plot, good actors/actresses, superb direction and wonderful script. Hehehe 🙂 Enough for praises, let’s go back on my movie review.
